The use of a mist sprayer is an integral part to controlling mosquito population.  There are three main methods of controlling mosquito population:

1. reduction (remove breeding grounds)

2. lavaciding (destroy the mosquito larva)

3. adulticiding (destroy the grown mosquito)

Additional mosquito information:

• Eliminate as much standing water as possible.  Mosquitoes may breed in water that has been stagnant for more than four days.  Some areas where standing water may be a problem: discarded tires, clogged gutters, wading pools, wheelbarrows, bird baths, swimming pool covers and partially filled swimming pools (clean and chlorinate even when not in use), ornamental pools and ponds (aeration will help problem), and livestock watering troughs (clean at least monthly).

• A single female mosquito can lay over 200 eggs at one time.  Mosquito eggs can survive for more than five years!
• Only female mosquitoes bite.
• Adult mosquitoes frequently rest in grassy areas and shrubs during the day.
• Mosquitoes are responsible for more human deaths than any other living creature.
